Cold and snow then off to Zion

Wednesday and Thursday we had a cold front come through so we stayed inside and watched TV. It got down in the 20's at night and was in the 40's during the day, burrrr. They said on the news they got 18 inches of snow above 8,000 feet on the mountains. The campsite is at 6,500 feet and it snowed pretty hard but it did not stick. When we drove to town we could see the snow on the mountains and decided we would wait to go to Zion NP. We did get out for a little while on Thursday and went to town shopping.
The Virgin River in Zion Canyon

Lynn's little friend on the trail.

This is a beutiful place.

The falls at the end of our hike.

Here is a picture of Lynn just before she grabbed the guy on the trail.

This is a picture of a Condor, thay have like a 10 ft wing span.
Snow on the Mountain. Time to move south.
Yesterday we went to Zion NP and did a little hike. Zion was a little different from the other parks in that you stay on the canyon floor and ride a shuttle to see the sites. You can get on and off the shuttle anywhere you want, they come by every ten minuets. In order to see the interesting sites you have to hike quite a distance and it is always up because you start on the canyon floor. We hiked back to the Emerald Ponds, about a two hour hike. Along the way we seen a Tarantula Spider on the trail, Lynn gave it a wide berth, it was huge. When you reach the fall's the trail goes under the falls and it gets wet and slippery. The red clay mud was very slippery and Lynn slipped and grabbed some guy walking by. They both almost went down, he wasn't to happy. When we got back to the main road we ate our lunch and watched the people getting on and off the shuttles. I would say about eighty percent are foreigners we seen people from France, Germany, Israel, China and Japan. I think maybe Obama sold the parks and did not tell us. Today Saturday we may try another hike if Lynn's heel feels better. We found out their is a trail across the street that goes to some real pretty waterfalls up on the mountain. Only trouble is you have to walk in the stream to get to the waterfalls. It will have to warm up allot for that to happen. It is suppose to reach 70 today and then mid 80's for the next three weeks. We are headed for Lake Mead tomorrow for a couple of weeks on the lake to work on our tan. The last week of October we will be in a Condo on the strip in Las Vegas. Bring on the Buffets. We will head for the Grand Canyon when we leave Las Vegas. Talk to you later. Never live for tomorrow it may not come.
