Cold in Texas

Well it's February 3rd and it is 35 degrees here in Texas with ice on the roads. We have had some great weather in the 70s and 80s so we can't complain. Even with a few days of cold weather it is better than back home in Traverse City with five months of sub freezing weather and an average of 180 inches of snow each winter. We just love being out of the cloudy cold weather up north. This seven week visit to a 55+ retirement park has bee a good experiance. A lot people in the park have done the full time RV life style and settled here after a number of years of traveling. I would say the average age is 75 to 85 years old. Last year 14 people passed away from this park.
We are getting excited about leaving in our motorhome in August for eight months to see as much as we can of America.
Check in now and then to see how we are doing. Hope to see you on the road.

Texas is cold

Well we flew down to Mission Texas on January 11 and when we got of the plane in Dallas it was 20 degrees brrrr. For the first few days in mission it has been in the 40's and raining. Today Sunday the 16th it reached 75 degrees wow this is more like it. Went to the RV show in Mercedes Friday and bought a fishing trip on South Padre Island. We have been working hard around the trailer getting things in shape. We are staying with my father in a retirement park that is very nice.
Lynn and I went up to the hall last night and watched some funny comedians. We have been meeting some great people here in the park and making new friends. I am trying to figure out how to add pictures to my blog, but no luck yet. It is going to bee 80 degrees tommorow and maybe we can go for a swim.

Merry Christmas

Today is December 22nd and I have my shopping done but I need to wrap everything yet. Christmas Eve will be spent with my wife's family at her sisters home. Christmas day will be spent with my wife's children at our house. New Years weekend will be Christmas with my kids at our house.

My wife is not real excited about missing Christmas with the family next year do to our eight month RV trip.
We are flying to Mission Texas January 10th for six weeks to visit my father. He lives in a 55+ park and this will give us a taste of being a snowbird before next year. We can't wait to get out of the snow.

I will try and blog from Texas and let you all know what we are up too.

Have Great Holiday Season

Our Grand Adventure

This is my first blog and I am going to post our RV travels across America. We plan to start an eight month trip in August of 2011. We plan to travel west from Michigan and see as many National parks as we can. We will let the weather push us south to spend the winter on the Gulf coast. I plan to post once a week so our friends and family can follow our Adventure. We plan to travel in our motor home pulling our PT Cruiser.  If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.
Thanks for visiting
